Variations on Preparation
Even with a hundred years of tradition behind them, there are no right or wrong ways to prepare and serve these cocktails.
Experiment if you want. But it’s hard to go wrong just pouring your drink over ice.
Simple Serving Suggestions:
Negroni
Add Barrelsmith Negroni to a mixing glass with ice. Stir for 20 seconds. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with an orange twist.
No mixing glass? Use a mason jar. No martini glass? Use whatever is on hand. Don’t have an orange, try grapefruit, lemon or lime. Add a real maraschino cherry. Even try a stalk of rosemary or thyme. Or keep it simple without a garnish.
Prefer it built in the glass and served on the rocks? Just fill an old fashioned or rocks glass with ice and pour.
Boulevardier
Add Barrelsmith Boulevardier to a mixing glass with ice. Stir for 20 seconds. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with an orange twist.
No mixing glass? Use a mason jar. No martini glass? Use whatever is on hand. Don’t have an orange, try another citrus. Or add a real maraschino cherry. Or keep it simple without a garnish.
Prefer it built in the glass and served on the rocks? Just fill an old fashioned or rocks glass with ice and pour.
Manhattan
Add Barrelsmith Manhattan to a mixing glass with ice. Stir for 20 seconds. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a real Maraschino Cherry. We like Luxardo’s brand imported from Italy. Whatever you do, just don’t use the brightly dyed red cherries we put on sundaes! Don’t have a real cherry? Try it with an orange twist. Or be a purist and keep it simple without a garnish.
Rather serve it over ice? That works too. Fill an old fashioned or rocks glass with ice. If you have a single large cube now is a great time to use it. Just pour Barrelsmith Manhattan from the bottle into the glass and give it a stir. Garnish with a real maraschino cherry. Or an orange twist. Or both.
No need to add any bitters as we have already done that for you.
